New Delhi:

Bangalore Royal Challengers were fined $1000 for slow over-rate in their Thursday's Indian Premier League match against Kolkata Knight Riders while the hosts also copped a $500 fine for a similar offence.

The IPL authorities said in a statement that Match Referee Farokh Engineer imposed the fines on the teams both of which were guilty of slow over-rates in the 16-overs-a-side match, which the hosts won last night at Eden Gardens.

The IPL is being played under the ICC Playing Conditions and Rules, according to which $ 500 is fined for every slow over.

The Rahul Dravid-led Bangalore side were found two overs behind schedule, while the hosts skipper by Sourav Ganguly were also one over behind the mark.
