Bhubaneswar:

As the Indian Hockey team prepares for the World Cup, which will be held in Germany next month, some proud hockey players got just the send off they wanted in Bhubaneswar. Demanding the best, excited Students at the Kedargouri St Xaviers School in Bhubaneswar welcomed their very own national hero Dilip Tirkey. Tirkey has just been re-nominated captain of the hockey team, and his young fans wished him the best for the world cup, which begins next month. Tirkey has always had a large fan following among school children, but he is still moved every time he meets his young supporters. "On behalf of the team, I thank the children for their good wishes and prayers for us. We shall try to focus on success from the beginning to the very end," said Dilip Tirkey, Captain, Indian Hockey Team. Other than Tirkey, there are two other players from Orissa, Ignace and Prabodh Tirkey, in the Indian squad, and these children want their heroes to bring the World Cup home.
