New Delhi: Sporting ties between India and Pakistan seem to be improving day by day. After India's historic cricket tour early this year to Pakistan, the Indian hockey team visited the country last week for a four-Test series - the first between the two teams in five years. On Saturday evening, it was India's turn to play hosts as the Pakistani hockey team landed in New Delhi for the second leg of the eight-Test series. Official visit It's the first official visit for a senior Pakistani hockey team to India since 1999. Even though India lost the first leg of the series in Pakistan 2-1 last week, just the fact that the players were visiting Pakistan was in itself a memorable occasion for many. The eight-Test series could not have come at a better time for the two teams. Pakistan, who finished fifth at this summer's Athens Olympics, will look at the Test series as a warm up event since they are hosting the next edition of the Champions Trophy in December. India, who will defend their Junior World Cup title, will definitely want to try out some fresh legs in the second leg. The first leg in Pakistan was called the Friendship series and that was indeed the way hockey was played between the two teams. If early indications are anything to go by with the way the Pakistani team was received in New Delhi, then the future of hockey on the subcontinent is indeed very bright.
