Tiruchirappalli:

The Asia Cup triumph will not make the Indian men's hockey team complacent and it would give its best in the Olympic qualifiers to be held in Chile in March, chief coach Joaquim Carvalho has said.

"Getting a berth in the Olympics is our utmost priority. The team will take it match by match," Carvalho told reporters on Friday.

He said India will play a Test series in Australia in February to prepare for the qualification campaign. A three-nation tournament would also be held in Chennai in January, involving Belgium and Pakistan.

Indian Hockey Federation Secretary K Jothikumaran said Australian consultant Rich Charlesworth, who had been hired to provide technical assistance to both the men's and women's teams, was likely to be in Chandigarh during the Premier Hockey League.

Earlier, the Indian hockey team, on a brief stop over in the city after a pilgrimage to Vailankanni and Tirunallar near Nagapattinam, was felicitated at a function hosted by the District Hockey Association.

They were given a rousing reception by hundreds of hockey fans, who thronged the Anna Stadium.
