According to a press release from the Federation Internationale De Hockey (FIH), If India qualifies by beating USA in the three match series from June 22 to 25 to decide the final 16th slot, they would play Australia in their first match on Nov 24. As per the decision of the Technical Committee of the FIH, USA will play the qualification match against India at Cannock in England. The tie between these two nations had been postponed following the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States. The Americans had withdrawn from playing in New Delhi after all their citizens were recalled last month due to the threat of an India-Pak war. (PTI)
