India equalled the record for the highest goals scored in Asia Cup, trouncing Sri Lanka 20-0 in a Group B pool match of the BSNL Asia cup hockey tournament

India equalled the record for the highest goals scored in Asia Cup, trouncing Sri Lanka 20-0 in a Group B pool match of the BSNL Asia cup hockey tournament on Saturday.

Prabhjot Singh and Raghunath scored 5 goals each as the Indians equalled the record for the highest goals scored in the tournament ever.

Pakistan and Malaysia had earlier beaten Thailand by the same margin in the 1993 Asia Cup.

India's best showing is however a 24-1 scoreline which came against United States in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.

Their next take on South Korea on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Malaysia overwhelmed Hong Kong 13-1 and Japan pulled off an upset 3-1 win over 4-time champions Pakistan.
