India, China in Asia Cup opener

India will take on China in the opening match of the 7th Men's Asia Cup tournament on August 31 in Chennai.

Chennai:

Defending Champions India will open their campaign against China in the seventh Men's Asia Cup Hockey tournament to be played in Chennai from August 31 to September 9.

According to the fixtures released by the organising committee of the championship here today, India, drawn in Pool B, would take on China on August 31.

The matches would be played in two venues - Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium and YMCA Ground, Organising Secretary K Jothikumarann said.

India won their maiden title in the last edition held at Kuala Lumpur.

Teams:

Pool A: Pakistan, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore.

Pool B: Korea, India, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand.
