New Delhi: At a time when the Indian Cricket team is going out of its way to get along well with the Indian Press by having media sessions at its camp in Bangalore, the Indian Hockey team is going to the other extreme. The week long camp for the Asia Cup began on Tuesday morning at the National Stadium in New Delhi and Indian Coach Rajinder said that as far as the Indian media was concerned this camp was off limits to them.A small group of journalists gathered at the Dhyan Chand Stadium on Tuesday morning were politely told to go home.Meanwhile speculation has begun on what could be the reason for keeping the media away.Bickering teammatesPopular opinion seems to suggest that it could be because the Federation doesn't want any washing of dirty linen in public. The players are said to be at loggerheads with each other and with the sponsors Sahara over the issue of payments. Apparently things got so bad in the Lucknow camp that some players even came to blows. So the management has decided that 30 minutes with the media on the weekend is all they will allow. Next week the team hopes to train under floodlights in Singapore for a few days before getting to Kuala Lumpur for the Asia Cup.
