Chandigarh:
Title contenders and favourites Punjab were dumped by rivals Haryana who booked a final berth along with Maharashtra in the final of the women's hockey competitions in the 31st National Games here tomorrow. Haryana, who led 3-0 at the half time, went on to defeat hosts Punjab 4-2. In the other semi-final this evening, Maharashtra outplayed Chandigarh 4-1 after the teams were locked 1-1 at break. Maharashtra got the lead in 20th minute when Mamta Kharab made no mistake in hitting the goal post while taking the strike which was awarded in 20th minute following rough play by Chandigarh. The lead was however short lived as Prakash Choudhary combined well to hit the post in the 21st minute to make it 1-1. The second half virtually belonged to Maharashtra who kept scoring at regular intervals. Pakpi Devi scored twice in 39th and 67th minute with Mamta Kharab scoring in between in the 47th minute.
