Ranchi:
"Hockey and other sports should also be treated on a par with cricket," Lakra, who had recently refused to take a cash award given by the Jharkhand government on the state's seventh foundation day, said.
Concerned with the drop in hockey talents from Jharkhand, Lakra said there was no dearth of talent in the state, but what required was proper back up.
"A dozen hockey players from the neighbouring Orissa have been in the recent hockey camp. We should also wish to see so many players coming up from our state too," Lakra said.
"If proper facilities are given, I think Jharkhand will also once again pick up in the traditional game," Lakra said.
