The Indians, still trying to acclimatise to the sub zero conditions, got off to a slow start. India took the lead in the 28th minute of the second half with a penalty corner conversion by Len Ayappa. However, that lead lasted just three 3 minutes before Belgium scored past 10-man India to make it 1-1. Baljeet Singh Dhillon had been sent off for a foul.
