Ipoh, Malaysia:

India beat Asian Games golde medallist South Korea 1-0 to win the bronze medal in the 16th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament at Ipoh, Malaysia on Sunday.

The match-winner came from the stick of Sardar Singh just 14 minutes before the end of second half.

The Indians had earlier lost 2-1 to Malaysia in the semi-final.

However, the third place finish is considered as a creditable achievement considering how young and relatively inexperienced the squad is.

India had finished third in the eight-nation tournament last year as well.
