St. Andrews:

Woods struggled for his best form, but the overnight leader will still be the player to catch today. A 12-foot par putt at the 17th was key to Woods' round, as it would see him maintain his sole lead of the event. Jose Maria Olazabal carded his second 68 of the tournament to take sole possession of second place on the leaderboard while Colin Montgomerie will head into the final round a further stroke off the pace. The Scotsman dropped two strokes on the back nine. But a brilliant long range birdie putt at the 18th thrilled Montgomerie's home crowd and saw him finish with a two-under par 70.
