New Delhi: The fifth edition of the SAARC Golf championship will tee off at the Delhi Golf course on Friday without Pakistan and Maldives, who are not participating due to different reasons. While Maldives had "no team to participate, invitations were not extended to Pakistan to participate in the four-day tournament." The five teams in the fray are hosts India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. "Maldives could not arrange a team to participate in the meet. As far as Pakistan are concered, they were not given an invitation," K H Khan, chairman of the tournament steering committee said. Pakistan had participated in the first two editions of the tournament, which has been dominated by India since its inception. India has won all the tournaments, including the one last year when the beat Bangladesh at Classic Golf resort at Gurgaon. As the competition is open only to amateurs, Keshav Mishra will lead a three member Indian team which also comprises Jaideep Patwardhan and Harinder Gupta.
