New Delhi:

Sixty-one children are participating at the Albatross golf tournament in Delhi. Half of the participants are under the age of 12.

While her friends are busy playing with dolls, 7-year-old Dikshita Khullar is at the Army golf course figuring out which club to use to get that perfect drive. She's playing the Albatross Golf tournament for the first time and says she loves it and that's because she prefers sports to dolls.

30 children playing in this tournament are under the age of 12 but eight-year-old Omar has already spent more than four years on the golf course. And what got him started on the greens?

"I play golf because my brother used to play. I learnt it from him," said Omar Khanderia.

Omar's father is an amateur golfer himself. So there's no dearth of enthusiasm for the sport in the Khanduria household. "We support him and encourage him to practice more," said his father Surendra Khanduria.

Omar's dad is not the only one. More and more parents are encouraging their children to take up this sport.

Eight of the children in this tournament have played competitive golf at the International level and want to follow in tiger's footsteps.

These kids are unlike any other. They have loads of patience and enviable composure. They are desi Tiger Woods. On any given day they would pick Golf over other sports.

Golf, unlike cricket takes up more time and requires a lot more patience. It's not a spectator sport and there's little following for it in India. But it'll take more than that to stop these children.
