Miyazaki, Japan:

Jeev Milkha Singh hauled himself back into reckoning for a good finish as he landed an eagle on the 18th hole for the second day in succession on Saturday.

Jeev is now tied seventh at the end of the third round of the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament.

Jeev, who had dropped a shot each on 15th and 17th salvaged a round of even par 70 and took his tally to seven-under 203.

Jeev is now six behind the leader England's Ian Poulter who shot a 3-under 67 to take a two-stroke lead over countryman Luke Donald after the third round.

Jeev, who missed the event last year but won the following two weeks in Japan, bogeyed the sixth and birdied the eighth.

He again bogeyed the 10th and birdied 14th to make it even par. The two bogeys on 15th and 17th messed his card before he made up with an eagle. He reached the green in two and then putted out the eagle coolly.

"Things were better than yesterday as there were no three-putts, but I missed a few greens in regulation," said Jeev.

Poulter, who tied for sixth in this event last year and has been leading since the first round. He picked up four birdies against one bogey to move to 10-under 200 at the par-70 Phoenix Country Club.

Poulter chipped in from 20 feet for birdie on the par-4 12th hole and converted a six-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th to highlight his round. Spain's Fernandez-Castano Gonzalo and Daisuke Maruyama were four shots behind in a tie for third.

Donald matched Poulter with a 67 to climb into second as overnight joint leader and defending champion Padraig Harrington of Ireland struggled to a 73 and slipped into a tie for seventh.

Fernandez-Castano shot a 69 while Maruyama had a 70. Maruyama was given a one-stroke penalty after his ball moved when he was standing over a putt on the 17th green.
