Illinois: At the US Open, Jim Furyk has established a lead by three shots after the third round. While Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and everyone else around him fell apart, Furyk surged ahead on Saturday at Olympia Fields with a 3-under 67 to shatter the 54-hole scoring record at the US Open. More importantly, Furyk will take a three-stroke lead over Stephen Leaney into the final round, thanks to a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole that capped off a remarkable day. Vijay Singh was tied with Furyk for most of the sunny, warm day south of Chicago until he missed a 3-foot par putt on the 16th hole that sent him to a stunning collapse. He bogeyed the next two holes for a 72 and was five strokes behind.
