Curtis nears win at Booz Allen

Ben Curtis shot a four-under-par 67 that gave him a five-stroke lead after three rounds at the Booz Allen Classic on Saturday.

Ben Curtis shot a four-under-par 67 that gave him a five-stroke lead after three rounds at the Booz Allen Classic on Saturday. He thus moved closer to his first title since the 2003 British Open. His rounds of 62, 65 and 67 put him at 19-under 213, breaking the tournament record through 54 holes. His shot of the day was an approach that landed a foot from the pin at No five, setting up his second birdie of the day. Brett Quigley shot a 67 to put him at 14 under while 1996 champion Steve Stricker (66) and Sweden's Daniel Chopra (67) are seven strokes off the lead. Nick O'Hern shot a 64 for the second straight day to move to 11 under, where he and Jeff Gove are in a five-way tie for fifth. (AP)
