The Royal and Ancient Club, which runs the British Open, has confirmed that women will be able to qualify from next year onwards. This means the prospect of Michelle Wie Vs Tiger Woods is now a real possibility. Wie, incidentally, makes her pro debut in Hawaii this week. The women who finish in the top five at the four women's majors will be able to take part in regional qualifying for the Open. Till now the British Open was the only one of the four men's majors, which specified that only men can compete.
