Honolulu:

A poor front-nine marred Arjun Atwal's card as he turned in a one-over 71 to slip 26 rungs to tied 50th after the second round of the $5.4 million Sony Open.

The Orlando-based Indian's overall total stood at even-par (rpt even-par) 140 after the halfway stage of the PGA Tour event at the Waialae Country Club here.

Atwal began on an ominous note and stumbled to a bogey-brace on the second and third holes before dropping another stroke on the sixth. A birdie on the ninth was the only saving grace as he made the turn two-over.

The back-nine started on a slightly better note for Atwal as he picked up back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th but he was once again pulled back by a bogey-brace on the next two holes.

The Indian, however, managed to end the day on a positive note by gaining a stroke on the last hole.

At the top, American Tom Prince Junior, who sizzled with a flawless 63 studded with five birdies and an eagle, shared the lead with Australian Nathan Green (66) with a two-round total of eight-under 132.

Overnight leader Shigeki Maruyama (68) and local Brian Gay were tied for the third spot, a shot behind the leading duo.

Meanwhile, Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra failed to make the cut at the event. Chopra carded a second successive 71 that left his total at two-over 142, a stroke below the cutline.
