Arjun Atwal returned a card of two-over 72 in the second round but was not enough for the Orlando-based golfer to make the cut at the Mayakoba Classic.

Playa del Carmen, Mexico:

After a horrendous opening round of eight-over, Arjun Atwal returned an improved card of two-over 72 in the second round but was not enough for the Orlando-based golfer to make the cut at the Mayakoba Golf Classic here.

Atwal, who needed almost a miracle to make the cut following his nightmarish eight-over 78 in the first round, ended with a dubious total of 10-over 150.

Only bogeys flew from his club in the E1 Camaleon Golf course, barring the first hole, where Atwal picked up a shot for the second successive day.

Atwal bogeyed the second, 10th and 12th hole to finish two-over 72.

At the top, American Mark Wilson blasted a six-under 64 to share the lead with compatriot Kevin Na, who fired a sizzling eighth-under 62 in the second round.
