Arjun Atwal could not arrest the slide and slumped to tied 68th after bringing home a third round card of two-over 72 in the Sony Open here.

The Orlando-based Indian, who got off to a sedate start in his first US PGA Tour this year with a one-under 69, faltered on the front nine for the second day on the trot and had to settle for his second successive over-par round which took his tally to two-over 212.

A bogey treble on his front nine - on the second, fourth and seventh holes - had him reeling at three-over at the turn and the 10th hole birdie was the lone bright spot in an otherwise dull card as he signed off with a string of eight par shots.

At the top, Zach Johnson (200) grabbed the penultimate round lead with a four-under 66, just one shot ahead of David Toms (65), Shigeki Maruyama (68), Bryan Gay (68) and Nathan Green (69).
