UAE to host F1 race from 2009

The UAE has secured rights to host a Formula One Grand Prix in the country's capital, Abu Dhabi.

The UAE has secured rights to host a Formula One Grand Prix in the country's capital, Abu Dhabi. Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone joined Emirates officials including crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the inaugural Abu Dhabi Formula One Festival on Saturday. They signed a seven-year deal for the race, starting in 2009. Reigning world champion Fernando Alonso is heading a star-studded line-up of drivers in the country for the Abu Dhabi F1 Festival.
