Barcelona: Toyota's Jarno Trulli beat home favourite Fernando Alonso by a whisker on Saturday to claim provisional pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix. India's Narain Karthikeyan qualified 15th while Ferrari's world champion Michael Schumacher could only manage seventh best. Narain, who spun off the track at the third turn once again emerged as the best rookie ahead of his team-mate Tiago Monteiro and the two Minardi drivers. Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello, meanwhile, will lose 10 places on Sunday's starting grid after an unscheduled engine change before the first qualifying. The second qualifying is on Sunday followed by the race.
