Petter Solberg held a lead of over 20 seconds from Marcus Gronholm at the end of Friday's first day of the WRC Rally of Mexico. The Norwegian took three of the day's six special stages in a combined time of one hour 23 minutes and 56 seconds. Reigning World champion Sebastien Loeb had one of his less enjoyable days behind the wheel, losing a wheel as he crawled to 14th. Special stages one, four and five went to Solberg and co-driver Phil Mills. Peugeots took the remaining three. Estonia's Markko Martin lifted the third with Gronholm taking special stages two and six. (AP)
