Silverstone: Ferrari's Michael Schumacher won the British Grand Prix Formula One race at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit today. Ferrari's Schumacher, whose only defeat this year came in Monaco, scored his 10th victory of the season and 80th of his F1 career. His 10th win leaves him one short of the single season mark which he set in 2002. Schumacher held off Kimi Raikkonen and took his third win at Silverstone and his 80th grand prix victory. Schumacher spent the early laps in fourth place, behind Raikkonen, Barrichello and Jenson Button. But the world champion stayed out for several laps longer than any of them before his first stop on lap 15 and rejoined the track in the lead just ahead of Raikkonen. A huge crash to Jarno Trulli brought out a safety car and gave Raikkonen a late chance, but Schumacher held on. SchumacheraÂÂs win extends his advantage in the title race to 26 points over Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello, who held off Button to finish third. Button was a disappointing fourth for BAR, although he remains the best-placed non-Ferrari driver in the championship, 47 points down on Schumacher. Juan Pablo Montoya took fifth for Williams with SauberaÂÂs Giancarlo Fisichella sixth, McLarenaÂÂs David Coulthard seventh and JaguaraÂÂs Mark Webber eighth.
