World champion Valentino Rossi of Italy has been stripped of his British Grand Prix title.

London:

World champion Valentino Rossi of Italy has been stripped of his British Grand Prix title. Rossi was penalised for overtaking even when officials were waving the yellow warning flags. Unaware of the penalty, Rossi took the chequered flag for his fourth win of the season. But officials later decided that he should be penalised 10 seconds for his violation, which now gives Max Biaggi the title, with Rossi pushed down to third place. Sete Gibernau was lifted to second position following the decision. Rossi, however, remains at number one in the championships standings.
