Renault has named Heikki Kovalainen as their replacement for Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso. Alonso would be leaving McLaren in 2007. Kovalainen has been a test driver with the constructor's champions since 2004 and is their back-up driver this season. The Finn, who will partner Giancarlo Fisichella, has no prior Formula One race experience. But Renault boss, Flavio Briatore who was also responsible for bringing Alonso into the team says he sees it as an opportunity of starting a new story with a future champion.
