Istanbul, Turkey:

It looked good for Ralf Schumacher when he finished fifth in qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix. Make that 15th, after the Toyota driver was penalised on Saturday for an engine change. "Our objective was to make the top five in qualifying so that was a good session for us," the German said. "It's obviously a pity to drop back 10 places due to the precautionary engine change." He clocked 1 minute 27.569 seconds in the third qualifying session which determined the pole position for Sunday's race. Ferrari's Felipe Massa took the pole with 1:26.907 and Ralf's brother Michael was second with 1:27.284. Ralf Schumacher has now placed top eight in qualifying in the last five races, including third at the Australian GP in March. In the overall standings, he is 10th with 16 points. Alonso leads with 100. As if engine troubles weren't enough this weekend, Schumacher reportedly left his specially designed contact lenses in Salzburg, Austria. They were flown in to the country and reached the circuit half an hour before Friday's practice run, Turkish newspapers said. (AP)
