Montreal:

Narain Karthikeyan emerged the best amongst the rookies though he finished 17th in both the practice sessions today for the Canadian Grand Prix. Karthikeyan, under fire from Jordan boss Colin Kolles over his recent showings, finished the first practice at 1 min 18.338 sec and followed it up with a slightly improved performance in the final practice at 1:17.215. However, he completed ahead of his Jordan teammate Tiago Monteiro and Minardi duo Patrick Friesacher and Christijan Albers in both the sessions. McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen made his intentions clear ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix by claiming the second practice today, while the first was won by Fernando Alonso of Renault. Kolles had on Friday said that he was forced to have words with Karthikeyan after being disappointed by the rookie driver's performances at the last two races in Monaco and the Nurburgring. (PTI)
