New Delhi:
Following in the footsteps of the fastest Indian Narain Karthikeyan, 17-year-old Karun Chandok today qualified for the British F3 Championship 2002. Test driving a TME Dallara 398 Mugen Honda for Carlin Motorsports at the Pembrey track in South Wales, Chandok clocked a fastest lap time of 51.9 seconds to qualify, shattering the 52.7 seconds set by the Carlin Motorsports team. "All in all it was a fantastic experience and I have learnt a lot in these two days," Chandok was quoted as saying by a press release. It was the same scholarship F3 car driven by Karthikeyan, Jenson Button and Takuma Sato. Chandok's quickest lap matched with the fastest time recorded in this car. Formula One Test driver Narain Karthikeyan, the first Indian to win in F3, was on hand to support the budding driver. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
