Nineteen-year-old Karun Chandok is just back from London, where he successfully tested with Carlin Motor Sport -- one of the best British Formula 3 teams.
Chandok impressed everyone at Carlin by doing a lap in just 51.9 seconds -- a feat that will now take him into the Formula 3 circuit next year as a part of Carlin's F3 B team.
The teenager says racing in England was a dream come true. "The testing you know was unbelievable. I stepped on the throttle and the first few laps, the car used to go in all different directions. But then I got my head down and got to doing it," recounts Chandok.
While Karun will now be joining Naren Kathikeyan and Parthiva Sureshvaran in the F3 circuit, his first Formula 3 season will be crucial in determining his future. But the young racer says racing with the best only eases the pressure.
It is no pressure at all. The boys at Carlin -- my father has know that team for more than twenty years. If I was with another team, then there would have been pressure," says the teenager.
He is in Chennai only for a couple of days; a well deserved rest before he leaves for the last round of the Formula Asia Championships in China, which he is currently leading by a massive 20 points.
