Oyama:

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position for Sunday's Japanese Grandprix at the Fuji Speedway.

His McLaren teammate, Fernando Alonso finished second. This in the light of rapidly deteriorating relations between the two drivers after Hamilton claimed the team favours him over two time world champion Alonso.

The Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Felippe Massa will start third and fourth on the grid this Sunday.

The pole position gives Hamilton's chances of winning the championship in his debut year a boost.

At present he leads Alonso by two points with three races more to go.
