Felipe Giaffone of Brazil will join A.J. Foyt's race team as a full-time driver in the Indy Racing League.Giaffone will take over the No. 14 Dallara driven last season by Foyt's grandson, A.J. Foyt IV, who was released from his contract so he could switch to NASCAR.Giaffone drove a Foyt entry at Indianapolis in May, qualifying with just 30 minutes to go after getting a cell phone call from Foyt while he was shopping with his wife. It was his only IRL start of the season."After working with Felipe at Indy I was impressed,'' Foyt said on Thursday. "Coming in to qualify for the biggest race in the world, in a car you've never driven before, for a team you've never worked with before, well, you're either crazy or a real race driver. He proved to me that he's a real race driver.''Giaffone began his IRL career in 2001, and has one victory, in 2002 at Kentucky, 13 top-fives, and 29 top-10s in 53 starts.Giaffone's best finish in five races at Indianapolis was third in 2002. He started 33rd and finished 15th in May. (AP)
