Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais won Champ Car's inaugural Belgian Grand Prix in Zolder on Sunday (26 August) for his sixth victory of the season.

Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais won Champ Car's inaugural Belgian Grand Prix in Zolder on Sunday (26 August) for his sixth victory of the season.

In his last Champ Car campaign before joining Formula One, Bourdais is bidding to become the first driver to win four straight Champ Car series titles.

Bruno Junqueira of Brazil was second, followed by Graham Rahal - Bourdais' rookie team-mate.

The Champ Car season made a stop at the 2.5-mile circuit at Zolder for the inaugural Grand Prix of Belgium on Sunday.

Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais (.1) had the pole position and took the early lead followed by Dutch rookie (.14) Robert Doornbos.

Local favorite, (.34) Jan Heylen was second with some 10 laps to go. However, due to mechanical trouble early in the race, the Belgian driver finished 13th.

In his last Champ Car season before joining Formula One, the Frenchman is bidding to become the first driver to win four straight Champ Car series titles.

For Bourdais, the victory was his sixth of the season. He also won at Long Beach, Houston, Portland, Edmonton and Elkhart Lake.
