Gray skies and a light drizzle set the stage for Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix, where Fernando Alonso, sitting on pole position, is seeking to extend his points lead over Michael Schumacher.Alonso leads seven-time champion Schumacher 108-106 with three races left in the season.Alonso took Saturday's qualifying at the 5.451-kilometer Shanghai International Circuit. Alonso's Renault teammate Giancarlo Fisichella was second.Ferrari's Schumacher, who announced he is retiring at the end of the season, finished sixth, looking uncomfortable on the wet track.Varying conditions haven't bothered Alonso or Fisichella, with the Renaults finishing 1-2 in all three sections in qualifying.It was the sixth pole for Alonso this season, but his first since June, when he won his last race at the Canadian Grand Prix. He has 15 career poles.Sunday's formation marks the third time this year that Renault has occupied the front row of the grid.Honda's Rubens Barrichello, who won the inaugural Chinese GP in 2004, was third with Honda teammate Jenson Button fourth.Felipe Massa, Schumacher's Ferrari teammate, will start at the back of the grid because of a 10-place penalty due to an engine change on Friday.
