Zinedine Zidane scored a 72nd-minute goal for Real Madrid at Sevilla on Tuesday. However, his efforts could not prevent a 4-3 loss for his team at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. Despite its eighth loss this season, Madrid finished as runners-up in the Spanish Premier League and qualified for next year's Champions League. Reflecting on his final game for the club, Zidane said that, "It was a bittersweet farewell, but I'm satisfied with second place. It's a shame that we didn't get the three points, which would have ended the season a bit better." Further, although the French midfielder acknowledged that Madrid's performances were continuing to disappoint, he took some consolation from the team's league position. "I know we haven't had a good season, but at least we finished second, which isn't the best but it was what we were fighting for from this match. And, we have qualified for the Champions League," said Zidane. The former three-time player of the year, who helped France win the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000, will now turn his attention to one last grasp at the ultimate prize in the game before he hangs up his boots.
