World Cup qualifier: Brazil beat Argentina

Ronaldo scores a hat-trick of penalties as Brazil beat Argentina 3-1 in Belo Horizante.

The big ticket World Cup Qualifier between Brazil and Argentina in Belo Horizante, saw a flurry of goals. The arch rivals have seven World Cup titles between them. Hosts Brazil scored three goals all from penalties, and all taken by Ronaldo. Ronaldo scored first, with a penalty kick in the 16th minute of the first half, followed by another in the 67th minute. Argentina's Juan Pablo Sorin replied with a spectacular goal in the 79th minute to bring the score to 2-1. However, Ronaldo sealed the match with another penalty in the 90th minute. This puts Brazil at the top of the qualifying table in their group, for the 2006 Fifa World Cup with 12 points Argentina is second with 11.
