Margao, Bangalore:

Brazilian striker Marcos Pereira's brace ended Indian Bank's impressive unbeaten run as Vasco beat them 2-1 in a fast-paced match of the Oil PSU 7th National Football League at the Nehru stadium in Margao today. After Indian Bank's Sri Lankan striker Kasun Nadika Jayasuriya neutralised Pereira's early strike, Marcos once again gave Vasco the lead in the 35th minute to enable the Goans to score their second win and collect seven points from four matches. The bankmen, who lost their first match, remained on seven points from as many matches. In another match, Raja Baliev Nurlan scored an opportunistic goal as Hindustan Aeronautics Sport Club (HASC) notched their first win in the seventh National Football League with a 1-0 verdict against former champions JCT Mills, Phagwara.Nurlan bulged the net from close range after the Punjab team's goalkeeper Arvind Kumar could not collect the ball cleanly off a powerful hit from Dayanand and it popped out with the striker neatly completing the job in the 24th minute. It was HASC's maiden win in four outings and they now have four points. The millmen, who were in high spirits after having held reigning champions Mohun Bagan 3-3 in their last encounter, remain on a solitary point from four matches and are yet to register a victory.
