Vigo:

Celta Vigo missed out on the chance to go to the top of the Spanish Primera Liga standings when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Valencia on Thursday. Valencia led at half time through Juan Sanchez's seventh minute strike, but Florian Maurice ensured a point for the home side as they equalized soon after the half-time break. Valencia opened the scoring after just seven minutes through a finely worked goal as Juan Sanchez finished off a sparkling move. The visitors nearly doubled their lead 10 minutes later, but the Celta keeper pulled off an excellent point blank save off Ballesta Salva. Salva, however, came close to scoring six minutes later but it was at the wrong end as he narrowly avoided scoring an own goal. Celta finally scored four minutes into the second half. Maurice's first touch volley flew into the roof of the net to level the match 1-1 for Celta. With this draw, Celta are at fourth place while Valencia move up one place to the ninth spot.
