Ukraine will have to go into their first ever World Cup quarter final against Italy without striker Andrei Voronin. The Bayer Leverkusen forward was ruled out of the rest of the World Cup after tearing a thigh muscle in the game against Switzerland. However, they still have their main weapon, Andriy Shevchenko and the former AC Milan striker is hoping his experience of Italian football will help them get past the Azzurri. Voronin accompanied the team to the training ground at Potsdam but sat on the sidelines as his teammates took a training session. The Bayer Leverkusen striker later described the circumstances where he learnt of his injury. (AP)
