Roma, Bolton, Basel and Heerenveen advanced to the next phase of the UEFA Cup on Wednesday, while defending champion CSKA Moscow was eliminated without even playing.With one day remaining in the group stage, 17 clubs have qualified for the knockout phase of European soccer's second-tier competition and another eight have been relegated from the Champions League. CSKA Moscow was eliminated when Heerenveen claimed the final berth from Group F with a 2-1 victory over Levski Sofia. CSKA needed help from two teams, and Marseille did its part with a 2-1 victory over Dinamo Bucharest. But Levski's loss left CSKA in fourth place with four points, one behind Heerenveen.Heerenveen will join Marseille and Levski in the next round.CSKA Moscow was dropped into the UEFA Cup last year after being eliminated from the Champions League and went on to win Russia's first European club title.Roma beat Basel 3-1 at home to advance from Group E. In the other Group E match, already qualified Strasbourg drew 2-2 with Red Star Belgrade.Bolton advanced from Group H with a 1-1 draw with Seville. It joined Seville and Zenit St. Petersburg in the next round. Besiktas beat Guimares 3-1 in the other group match.In Group G, Rapid Vienna, Shakhtar Donetsk and Stuttgart already had secured places. Stuttgart beat Rapid Bucharest 2-1 and PAOK beat Rennes 5-1 for its first win of the group phase. (AP)
