Doha: The United Arab Emirates stunned Qatar with a 2-1 Asian World Cup qualifying group B victory in Doha. They now move to second place behind China with 10 points, reviving the country's flagging World Cup qualification hopes. Hosts Qatar threatened just seconds after the kickoff, the Emirates keeper punching out the first attempt, but the rebound found Qatar skipper Mubarak Mustafa. But his effort was also cleared by a defender. Midway through the half and Mubarak was unlucky yet again, his long-range effort just going over the cross bar. Then against the run of play Emirates took the lead in the 44th minute, the Qatar keeper making a blunder of advancing as Faisal Khalil Sebait header finding the back of the net. Two minutes into the second half and Qatar levelled the scores through Waleed Rasoul, after some poor defending by UAE. In the 84th minute, Qatar paid heavily for some more sloppy defending as Yaser Salem Saleh, left completely unmarked, knocked in the winner for UAE. With the win, UAE still couldn't manage displacing China, who top the group with 13 points. They need just one point to confirm their place in their first ever world cup. After the loss Qatar are in third place with 9 points. Uzbekistan and Oman wrapping up the group with 7 points and 2 points respectively.
