Istanbul:

Turkey was forced to settle for runners-up spot in its Euro 2004 grouping on Saturday after being held to a 0-0 draw by England in Istanbul. The match was played before only Turkish fans with England supporters, amid fears of violence, kept from attending. Despite a brawl in the stadium tunnel at halftime, there were no incidents reported in the 42,000 sellout. Subdued fans left the stadium clearly disappointed with the goalless result. Some had travelled from England to see the match and to cheer their nation on. Turkey must now await Monday's draw in Frankfurt to find out who they must beat over two legs to claim a berth for Portugal. (AP)
