Port-of-Spain:
Trinidad and Tobago will face Wales in a friendly on March 1 in London as it prepares for its first World Cup appearance next June. The match will either be at Tottenham's White Hart Lane ground or West Ham's Upton Park, said Jack Warner, a FIFA vice president and special adviser to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation. It will be the first friendly for Trinidad's Soca Warriors since they qualified last month for the World Cup. The former British colony was drawn with England, Sweden and Paraguay in the first round of the tournament in Germany. Trinidad will also play friendlies next year against Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. "The majority of our players are playing in England and Scotland and it's difficult to just come together for a match,'' said coach Leo Beenhakker. "At the same time we have a period for our preparations before the tournament (World Cup) and we will make the best use of that time,'' he added. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
