London:

Chelsea captain John Terry successfully underwent back surgery on Thursday. The Blues said in a statement that the operation took place in France following consultation between the Chelsea medical department and a leading neurosurgical specialist. Though Chelsea wouldn't confirm which doctor performed the operation, the England defender was scheduled to see back specialist Jean Destandau at his clinic in Bordeaux, France, on Thursday. Terry, who has missed the Blues' last four games, is expected to play again this season. Chelsea has conceded six goals in those games and is four points behind Premier League leader Manchester United.
