A keen tussle is on the cards between Sporting Clube De Goa and Tollygunge in the first round of the National Football League, to be played at Nehru Stadium, tomorrow. Sporting, known for their attacking style and neat passing, have showcased a good performance by finishing eighth in their maiden entry to the NFL last season. They have talented youngsters likes Wilton Gomes, Philip Gomes, Joe Pereira, Vicent Pereira and Cedric Peixoto, who were capable of giving a tough time to the big teams. But their biggest asset is their strike force where Dudu Omagbhemi had been their main inspiration. They have another Nigerian Adebayo (formerly with Fransa), who would assist Dudu from behind and shoulder the load in the midfield along with Peter Pereir, Joe and Nicholas. With Anthony Pereira, Ajay Diwadkar and Rajesh Meetei on the flanks, Philips Gome, Vincent in the middle, the defence looks good enough to stand up to the best of the rival talent. New look teamTollygunge, who managed to remain afloat in the last edition of the NFL, have a new look team.It comprises of mostly of talented youngsters who have put up a good performance in Kolkata domestic league against two big clubs. They also have a new coach Biswajit Das who will be making his debut in the NFL as coach. "We have a compact team, with youngsters Suman Dutta, Gourang Datta, Surjit Ghosh and Dinesh Shar specially to watch for. Wingers Kabijit Kothal and Showmick Deb have shaped well on the flanks and with three foreigners, Suley Musa (Ghana), Isiaka and Akeem (Nigerian) we have a side that can challenge the top teams," Das stated.
