Sociedad shares lead in Spanish league

Real Sociedad beat Mallorca 3-1 and rose into joint first position in the Spanish standings, level on points with new league leader Deportivo de La Coruna.

Striker Darko Kovacevic added a third goal after the interval in a victory, which drops Real Madrid into third with five rounds of games to play. In other 33rd-round matches, Celta de Vigo drew 2-2 with Racing de Santander, while last-place Rayo Vallecano drew 1-1 with Real Betis. Deportivo and Sociedad have 66 points, with Deportivo occupying top slot by virtue of a better head-to-head record. Madrid, which drew 0-0 Recreativo de Huelva on Saturday, has 65 points. (AP)
