Serbia-Montenegro beat China 2-0

Nenad Djordjevic scored one minute into the second-half of a friendly match with China, giving Serbia-Montenegro the first goal of its 2-0 victory.

Nenad Djordjevic scored with a sharp header one minute into the second-half of a friendly match with China on Sunday, energising a lacklustre game and giving Serbia-Montenegro the first goal of its 2-0 victory. China's coach Zhu Guanghu made several changes during the game at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, but none panned out. In the end, the more experienced Serbia-Montenegro prevailed, with substitute Nikola Zigic finding the net with a small-angle header. "I'm happy with this victory as it's the first one of our Asian tour," said Serbia-Montenegro coach Ilija Petkovic. Zhu said his team learned a lot from their opponents. "Our players are not as good as theirs, especially at the one-to-one situation. We learned a lot from them," he said. Serbia-Montenegro beat Bosnia-Herzegovina, its Balkan rival, 1-0 last month to qualify for the World Cup. (AP)
