Schuster new Real Madrid coach
Bernd Schuster was paraded as the new coach of Real Madrid on Monday (9/7).

The German succeeds Fabio Capello, who was dismissed eleven days after leading Real to the Spanish league title - their first in four years.

A star on the field with Real Madrid, Bernd Schuster will be looking for similar success as the club's new coach.

Pedrag Mijatovic will certainly be hoping so, after helping to lure the German from Primera Liga rivals Getafe.

Pedrag Mijatovic, Real Madrid Sporting Director Schuster was a huge success at Getafe, guiding the club to two ninth-place finishes and a run to the final of the Copa del Rey, where they lost to Sevilla.

But two seasons as a player in the Real midfield had left an indelible impression. Real are champions - but they only squeaked home ahead of Barcelona - and with Sevilla in close attendance.

'Barca' have already made a huge move in the transfer market with the capture of Arsenal's French international striker, Thierry Henry.

Schuster's got his eye on a few possible recruits - including another Arsenal player, Cesc Fabregas.

But the Real fans - at least the vast majority of them - will be mightily relieved that one current member of the playing personnel is going nowhere.
